[Error: unknown template qotd]TV: It's hard to call between Star Trek--in all its incarnations--(groundbreaking) and Farscape (incredibly imaginative and brilliantly written)
Movies: definitely Star Wars (but only the original three; the recent three are dung)

Haven't seen Farscape yet. How many seasons were there?

Four seasons plus a fifth season-ish mini-series.

I loved Crichton's pop-cultural reference laden dialogue, especially since he was the only human present and no one else had a clue what the frell he was talking about. (Frell being an all-purpose swear word on Farscape.)

Love Farscape and Firefly, also some episodes of Stargate, eg the time the team get flung back to the 60's and they have to blend in until they can get back.

I think that sci-fi is carefully written because the fans are so obsessive and can be very good.

Nice to find that some fans of QAF have some of my other - I was going to say interests but that does make me seem a total TV serial obsessed nerd... well if the cap fits... I swear I also love gardens and my family and friends and art.

As a fellow TV obsessed nerd, let me say, "I understand." Time travel episodes are great, aren't they? (I must confess, I've never seen Firefly.)

We love Firefly, only one season unfortunately. It's the series that Serenity came from but it's so good. Pity you saw Serenity first but it won't detract from Firefly. Beg, borrow or steal the disks - well maybe buy, not steal.

It's the brain child of Josh Wheedon, he's so creative and it's incredibly well and intelligently written, we have watched it quite a few times and we are hard to please. Do try to see it. It is so creative about how we will be in the future.

I never saw Serenity either. Why did you think I did?

I am vaguely familiar with what the series was about; I've just never had the opportunity to see it.

If you haven't seen Serenity it is a pleasure awaiting you, sorry for the misunderstanding. But do try and watch 'Firefly', I can't guarantee you'll love it but my partner and I absolutely love it and everyone else who has seen our disks loves it too. I don't know if you can catch it on TV in the USA but I stick by my recommendation - it's a pleasure awaiting you.

The writing is wonderful, as you would expect from Joss Wheedon and the thought behind the future of mankind as we spread into space as a sort of frontier is brilliant, even down to the details like the flag and the two universal languages. The cast is amazing and I think Nathan Fallon (the captain) looks like Gale except his chin, same shape eyes and nose and shape of head, you have to agree a good look.

Anyway lucky you, you have a great delight coming to you.
