Vampire Detective...hmm, sounds familiar

Does anyone else think the new tv series Moonlight seems a bit too much like the old tv series Forever Knight? One is about a vampire named Nick who works as a homocide detective to attone for his past sins and falls for a mortal woman. The other is about a vampire named Mick who works as a private detective to attone for his past sins and falls for a mortal woman. Can you even tell which sentence applies to which show?
(Or have I just dated myself horribly by admitting that I remember the earlier of these two shows?)
I've got to say that I loved the character of Lacroix on Forever Knight. He was the kind of character you love to hate--and then he'd turn around and do something halfway decent and confuse the hell out of you.

**The sentence about Homicide Detective Nick refers to Forever Knight.

I think it always has been on tv. Remember Bewitched and it's--ahem--"homage", I Dream of Jeannie? They even copied the "identical except for a black wig evil twin/sister" idea.
