Rereading OotP

In anticipation of the OotP-movie (we have tickets for Saturday), I've been reading OotP to my children. It's the first reading for them, and only the second for me. (I was too traumatized by Sirius's death to read it again.)
We're right in the middle of the battle in the Department of Mysteries (we'll reach the dreaded pages tomorrow), and I was struck by something: Harry really, really wants to go through the veil. On his first sighting of it:
Harry thought the archway had a kind of beauty about it, old though it was. The gently rippling veil intrigued him; he felt a very strong inclination to climb up on the dais and walk through it.
Then follows the discussion of whispering behind the veil and Hermione trying to coax Harry away by reminding him that Sirius is in danger.
"Sirius," Harry repeated, still gazing, mesmerized, at the continuously swaying veil. "Yeah..."
Harry is "mesmerized" by the veil, and feels "a very strong inclination" to go through? Oh, this does not bode well for Harry's chances of surviving the last book. (But then, we already knew that, didn't we?)
