humbuggery is now accepting story prompts for its holiday challenge. humbuggery is for anyone who has ever said, "Bah humbug," in regard to any holiday. The challenge is open to any holiday, any fandom.
Go; suggest a fandom/prompt combination. Maybe someone will brighten your holiday with a fic or some art.
In A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens, the character Scrooge says, "Bah humbug," about Christmas to indicate his intense dislike of the holiday. Scrooge thinks that celebrating Christmas is just an excuse to cheat employers out of a day's pay for a day's vacation, and to cheat those with money out of it for charity for the poor.
"Bah" is simply a sound of dislike, and "humbug" is a (now out-of-date) term for a fake or phony.
