Did any other QaF fans notice that there is Czech snowboarder named Michal Novotny?

I only watched parts of the mens' figure skating last night, but I have to say I really liked Daisuke Takahashi's performance--and Evan Lysacek wasn't half bad either.

I read in the paper today that Johnny Weir decided at the last minute to stay in the secure athlete's village (after threats from PETA over some fox fur on a costume). Because it was the last minute, he was given a female roommate, U.S. ice dancer Tanith Belbin. "That pairing of divas delighted Weir and caused him to decorate their two-bedroom suite with pink shower curtains, Audrey Hepburn posters, and scented candles." Emmett would be proud.

Haha, is that what happened? I heard stuff about him rooming with Tanith but didn't hear why.

Should be an interesting long program! I think anyone will need their A+ game to beat Plushenko, but the fact that he only has the slimmest of margins after the short is a good sign.

Yeah, he's quoted as saying, "I'm not intimidated by anything, except maybe PETA standing outside with a bucket of blood."

And, for the record, the fur has been removed from his costume.

I was so in love with Daisuke Takahashi's short program. I even loved his long program, though it was silly of him to even attempt that jump. He might not be the 'best' in the field, but I think he was the most fun to watch. But maybe the fact that I really want to see him naked is influencing my opinion here :D

As for Johnny Weir. I short of want to adopt him. Or go dancing with him. Something.

I rather suspect that Takahashi got conned into attempting that jump by Plushenko's repeated claims: "It's not men's figure skating without the quad," and "You can't win the gold without the quad."

Plushenko was trying to goad Lysacek (and failed to do so), but he succeeded in convincing Takahashi into trying something he shouldn't have.
