Sorry I've not been around

Actually, I have been around, but merely in "lurker mode". I just couldn't wrap my head around writing anything, not even a "Hi, I'm here" post.
Since I last posted, my daughter was hospitalized again. She woke up one morning with a high fever and moaning in pain--the exact same symptoms that landed her in hospital in October. Assuming--correctly--that it was a recurrance of colangitis (an infection of the bile ducts) and pancreatitis (an inflamed pancreas), I bundled her up and took her to CHOP (Children's Hospital of Philadelphia).
We spent four days in the hospital this time. The good news is that this happened on a Friday, so she didn't miss much school. The bad news is that this happened on a Friday, so the only doctors we saw were those on call, not the ones who ususally treat her. So, we have a lot of unanswered questions that will have to wait until our follow-up appointment in a couple of weeks.
In the meantime, they sent her home on oral antibiotics and on a low-fat diet. The poor thing is a skinny as a toothpick, and she's on a low-fat diet. She's being a really good sport about the diet, and she's great about reading labels and making good choices.
