Complain to the Better Business Bureau!
Aug. 6th, 2007 11:11 amIn light of Six Apart's recent asshattery,
bad_wolf_bitch has a solution elegant in its simplicity: Complain to the Better Business Bureau! If you have a paid account, you are a paying costumer of Six Apart and entitled to complain when it doesn't live up to its end of the bargain. In the wake of Strikethrough '07 and Strikethrough Part II, I'd say that Six Apart hasn't lived up its end of the deal.
Six Apart has screwed us over in hope of improving their bottom line when they go public. Well, a bad rating with the Better Business Bureau won't exactly help their case.
bad_wolf_bitch's explanation of where to complain and how can be found here.
In my complaint, I wrote:
Filed against:
Six Apart USA
548 4th Street
San Francisco CA 94107
Complaint Description:
Under the name "mysid," I have a paid account with Six Apart's website LiveJournal. I joined LiveJournal primarily to post fanfiction and to read fanfiction written by others (primarily in the Harry Potter "fandom").
In May 2007, Six Apart suspended without warning several fanfiction accounts and communities on LiveJournal. A week or two later, they reinstated them, apologized, and promised that it would not happen again--specifically promising that "fandom" communities would be safe and that accounts would not be suspended without warning.
In June 2007, Six Apart offered a "sale" on permanent paid accounts.
In July 2007 (after the "sale" was over), Six Apart again singled out and suspended several "fandom" oriented accounts and communites without warning. Six Apart is not honoring its own promises.
Your Desired Resolution:
I would like Six Apart to reinstate the deleted journals and clarify their suspension policies (which are NOT clear now).
