Reason #23 why I love Newsweek

In Newsweek this week:

Gibson's New Gospel
Ever since Mel Gibson's wife, Robyn, filed for divorce (after 28 years) there has been the usual, unsubstantiated speculation about another woman. We, however, would like to mention another man, a guy named Malachi. As in Malachi 2:15-17, the verses in the Bible that say: "'For I hate divorce!' says the Lord, the God of Israel. 'To divorce your wife is overwhelm her with cruelty,' says the Lord of Heaven's Armies. 'So guard your heart; do not be unfaithful to your wife'." Good thing Gibson doesn't take the Bible literally or anything.

LOL! Love it when holier-than-thous get shown up as hypocrites. I had the same thought when I first heard the celebrity gossip--excuse me, news--about Gibson, but I didn't expect to see a national magazine calling him on it.

Heh- except that it's her filing for divorce, right? Does he want the divorce?

Yeah, she's the one filling for divorce, but apparently it's because of his infidelity. And isn't there something in the Bible about "Thou shalt not commit adultery"?

We don't know why they are divorcing. His alcoholism / bipolar disorder would be reason enough. They have been separated since the time of Gibson's DUI arrest.

It's rather classless of Newsweek to lecture Mel Gibson that "God hates divorce" when by all indications Mel's wife left him.

I never liked that guy. Not that I'd wish harm on him or anybody, but it sounds like it's deserved...
