And this is why I love Newsweek...

Newsweek has an article on Johnny Depp and Pirates 2 this week--yes, proof yet again that perhaps Newsweek might be better named Entertainmentweek, but I'll let that slide for the moment--and one paragraph begins:

"Depp arrived in Hollywood in the early 80's. Despite a physical beauty that had studio executives slobbering to make him into a Romantic Leading Man and hordes of teenage girls (and a few boys) dreaming of touching his hair just once..."

"...and a few boys..."

Yes, it's true, but how many magazines would say it? And, don't forget, when Troy came out, Newsweek pointed out that Achilles's true love interest was Patroclus, not the slave girl chick.

Kisses to Newsweek!

Don't they?

I once had an subscription for school but it got too expensive. I really enjoyed reading it though. I'm not sure whether I can think of another magazine mentioning homosexuality in that context. Not because they are prudish, but because they simply wouldn't think of it.

Yes, exactly! And they just toss it into the article as if it's no big deal.

As someone recently said, we are fast approaching "the tipping point" in which more people in this country (USA) accept homosexuality as normal than there are people who believe it's wrong. (Not quickly enough for me, but faster than I would have dreamed a few years ago.) And Newsweek is doing its little bit to help make it happen.
