Dreamwidth

OK, I'm not quite ready to jump ship, but given my love/hate relationship with LJ, it's probably time to start making a contingency plan. In other words, it's time to get a Dreamwidth account and to start mirroring entries between the two.

So, does anyone have an invite code-thingy for Dreamwidth that I can have? Do we even still need those?

And more importantly, can someone point me in the right direction for a "mirroring" tutorial? If I'm going to post an entry here (or there), I'd like it to be in both places.

You can easily import everything from your LJ to DW. You can also set up DW so it posts at both sites, automatically. So you don't really need much other than basic knowledge.

That being said, I don't have an invite code. Sorry. I grew bored with DW.

But HOW do I import? Are there "Dreamwidth for Dummies" type instructions somewhere?

Hi--I'm roving Dreamwidth support and found this on a blog search for Dreamwidth. I think maybe the guide you're looking for is:

Many thanks.

Code if you still need one, or for whomever else might:

I haven't been posting there (frankly, haven't been posting much on LJ either, LOL) but I'm not really a fan of LJ in general these days. Most of my college friends are on LJ though, and don't really care about the shenanigans that fandom does, so I can't really jump up and go elsewhere at this point.

Thank you! I now have a Dreamwidth account.

You're welcome!

There's at least one community over there for codesharing, if anyone else needs them.

I posted for the first time in a while over there this morning... I haven't been using my own computer the past few days and have discovered that LJ looks really nasty with all the ads, LOL. Besides, I'm always on the Facebook hate bandwagon for their business practices, I really shouldn't be hypocritical about LJ's.

I've got invite codes if you still need one, and am happy to try to answer questions if you get stuck.

Thank you! I used the invite code that [livejournal.com profile] greenwitch gave me, but I appreciate the offer. I know that [livejournal.com profile] copperbadge is currently matching up people who have codes with people who want codes-- just in case you were interested.

Thanks for pointing me to the direction that code-sharing post, I've put up most of my remaining codes on offer there. (And in the process, as I was checking how many codes I had left on my secondary DW account, I accidentally subscribed to you with that, so if you're wondering why you got and lost access from watching_drwho in a rapid succession, that was me.)
