Motorcyclists = Organ Donors

My MIL just told me that a few years ago, a friend of hers needed a liver transplant. Someone pointed out to her that statistically, she was more likely to get a donor organ in Florida than in her own state. Why? Her own state requires motorcycle riders to wear helmets, and Florida doesn't.

It worked. She moved to Florida, and she got a liver from a DOA motorcyclist.

Driving any vehicle in Florida is a dangerous thing - I think the state gets the (dis)honor of having the worst drivers in the world. And, since as you pointed out, helmets are not required AND bikers manage to be worse drivers than car drivers, it's no wonder your MIL's friend got her liver. It's really sad.
