Good Omens fanfic recs

[livejournal.com profile] kawaii_tenshi27 mentioned that she is reading Good Omens, and I thought it might be nice to put together a short list of my favorite Good Omens fanfics. It isn't a very long list, as I'm afraid that I tend to spend more time reading Remus/Sirius than all my other fandoms combined. Feel free to make your own recommendations.

Given that I'm rather fond of Alexander the Great, I have to start with Mother of God by [livejournal.com profile] daegaer. Aziraphale has done rather a good job with the Persian Empire, so Crowley tries to use the Macedonians to destroy it. The one thing he hasn't accounted for, he can't quite control Alexander. I don't know which bit I love most, that Crowley is Olympias's pet snake, or that Crowley really behaves like a demon in this one—just ask Hephaistion. He isn't quite the defanged "nice bloke" demon that he is in Good Omens, but does show one act of mercy, so we know he'll get there.

Also by [livejournal.com profile] daegaer, Ordinary People, an AU in which Ezra Fell and Tony Crowley are ordinary humans. It's a sweet "falling in love" story, and I love the retention of little GO details: Tony's sunglasses and classic Bentley, Ezra's bookshop and wistful memories of flying (he was a pilot).

And if you like that one, try Ordinary People (the Not so Ordinary Remix) by Cimorene. Aziraphale and Crowley are immortal beings in this one, but it echoes so many of the details from "Ordinary People" that it's a wonderful companion piece.

Ballyharnon has a series of Crowley/Aziraphale moments. If you just want to sample one, I suggest Switch Hit, but if you prefer reading them in order (they're all short), start with The Agreement.

In Good Omens, Crowley points out that humans invent ways to be cruel that even he never dreamed of. Apparently, we've been doing that right from the start. Remember Cain and Abel? Read East of Eden by Shati.

I know I've read other good ones, but these are the ones that I can remember at the moment. What Good Omens fanfics do you recommend?

I recommend Living Arrangements (http://thewritegirls.populli.net/afrai/living.html) by [livejournal.com profile] afrai, because it's wonderfully imaginative and the characterisation is gorgeous.

Also, Apple (http://community.livejournal.com/go_exchange/7345.html) by [livejournal.com profile] madsciencechick. Very funny.

Both wonderful suggestions. "Living Arrangements" had tears running down my face, and then "Apple"--funny and sweet--cheered me up again.
